YBA is a fun league for kids ages 4-12 to learn and play basketball. We offer a fall/winter league from November to February and a spring league from March to April, and a Late Spring league for May/June. The sessions are 45 minutes to 1 hour in length. Teams will practice for the first half of the session to improve skills and play a game for second half of time to utilize skill and teamwork. 3v3, 4v4, and 5v5 games will be played depending on participation numbers.

Held at both Church St Y and Wells Ave Y.

About the Leagues

Mini Basketball (Pre-school) League emphasizes participation, fun, and fair play. Coaches will teach the fundamentals of dribbling, passing, and shooting and introduce team concepts and positive competition. Mini basketballs are used with a 6ft hoop. Coaches are allowed on the court. 

Biddy Basketball (Kindergarten & 1st Grade) League focuses on the fundamentals while introducing and enforcing the rules of basketball from an instructional standpoint to provide an understanding of how the game is played (i.e. traveling, stealing, proper defense). Rule violations will be addressed for coaching points and play is then resumed. Children will use 27.5 basketballs and the hoop is 8ft. Coaches are allowed on the court. 

Rookie Basketball (2nd & 3rd Grade) League continues to focus on the fundamentals while enforcing the rules of basketball from an instructional standpoint to provide an understanding of how the game is played (i.e. traveling, stealing, proper defense). Rule violations will be addressed for coaching points and play will then resume. Here, rule violations may also result in a turnover. 28.5 basketballs are used, and play is on 9ft hoops. Coaches are allowed on the court. 

Collegiate Basketball (4th - 6th Grade) League continues to work on the fundamentals of basketball while implementing set plays and movements. Here, all rules are enforced but now result in a turnover if there is a violation. 28.5 basketballs are used, and play is on 10ft hoops. Coaches are NOT allowed on the court.
